Table lamp 01

Alternating layers of oak grain give the lamp base its distinctive textural character. The wood is first selected for its suitable grain pattern, sliced, alternate layers reversed and then assembled before being turned into a cylinder.

The light diffuser is polypropylene. Its slightly non-uniform thickness gives the diffuser variation in brightness, with subtle vertical lines showing when the lamp is switched on. The polypropylene is sanded with coarse sandpaper giving the surface a soft, fabric-like texture.

Each lamp comes with a 2m braided fabric power lead.

As always, responsible material sourcing is key to my working practice; the wood used to make this lamp comes from a tree grown local to my workshop and felled as part of a native woodland regeneration project.

Oak is a material with natural variation, and although similar, your lamp may have grain detail different to the ones pictured.

Dimensions: height 240mm, diameter 70mm. 

Cleaning instructions: The lamp can be disconnected from power and wiped clean with a damp cloth.
