Why commission?

We perceive our surroundings through multiple senses. By making decisions on aesthetics, tactility and acoustics we can orchestrate both the function and feel of a space. We can bring people together, encourage focus, boost energy or create a calming environment to unwind.

Furniture and lighting are major elements of any interior and by choosing to commission a bespoke piece, you can precisely express your intention for a space.

I offer a custom design service for both commercial spaces and private residential projects.

I collaborate with interior designers so they can offer their clients custom or bespoke pieces.

My role as a furniture and lighting designer is to support your creative vision. I understand that successful interior design relies on a holistic approach, with all elements of an interior scheme supporting one another. I’ll take time to understand the nuances of your client’s brief, meaning you can trust your furniture or lighting commission to be in harmony with the rest of your project.

If you use 2D or 3D software, I’ll provide CAD models of your commissioned work to visualise in plans and renders for your client.

From an interior design perspective, choosing to work with a product designer who understands the spatial design process is essential. Someone who understands your vision and who’s design service is a complement to your own. I have worked on successful collaborative design projects for over a decade, which means that you can expect clear communication, a flexible working style and a client-focused outcome.

A commission is a personal project, whether a custom version of an existing design or a bespoke piece designed especially for you. Thats why a commissioned project always starts with a consultation to fully understand your needs. Together we'll discuss the reasons behind your commission, your specific requirements, and then I’ll talk you through how the bespoke design process looks from start to finish.

Throughout the design process you’ll receive as much guidance on materials, aesthetics and ergonomics as you need. Once we arrive at a final design, you’ll receive material samples, photorealistic renders and technical drawings, giving you full confidence in your commission before design sign-off. Only once you are completely happy with your design proposal will production begin.

As an exclusive artisanal service, a bespoke commission can take from eight to sixteen weeks, depending on studio capacity. I will advise on the time frame for your specific commission during the consultation process and will always keep you informed of any changes.

A conscious process

Across all projects I only use premium quality, ethically sourced materials. I work primarily in native hardwood timbers, often from trees felled local to my workshop as part of a native woodland regeneration project. By choosing to work with me you're investing in longevity, ethical practice and local production.
